No Doubt have withdrawn their new video from the internet and television, after they received complaints about its content.
The band premiered their music video for the second single, Looking Hot, from their new album Push And Shove on Friday but have now taken it down.
The video depicts lead singer Gwen Stefani dressed in native American garb, chained by her band members who act as cowboys. Stefani then dances around a fire next to a teepee before escaping at the end of the feature.
The band released an official statement on their website last night, writing:
'As a multi-racial band our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialise Native American people, their culture or their history'.
The statement continues, 'Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realise now that we have offended people. This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately'.
'The music that inspired us when we started the band, and the community of friends, family, and fans that surrounds us was built upon respect, unity and inclusiveness. We sincerely apologise to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video. Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are'.
The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas, who directed We Found Love for Rihanna and Bleeding Love for Leona Lewis, as well as numerous Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga singles. This year, she has also directed Christina Aguilera's video for current single Your Body.
The band are due to perform the song on The X Factor results show tonight, broadcast on UTV/TV3 at 8pm.
