Smith recovering after routine procedure

Dame Maggie Smith is recovering at home, her spokesperson has said, after reports surfaced the actress had been admitted to hospital.

The Sunday Mirror reported the Downton Abbey actress was admitted to hospital in London on Friday. The paper reported that the 77 year-old was taken to the cardiac unit of The Wellington Hospital to undergo tests.

"She is fine and well and at home" a spokesperson for the actress commented this afternoon. Smith was in hospital for a routine medical procedure, her spokesperson has explained.

Smith fought with breast cancer between 2007 and 2008 and previously disclosed that she considering quitting acting after going through the rigorous treatments.
