Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Liveline presenter Joe Duffy said: "What I love about Christmas is the way the days disappear into each other, you don't know what day it is, you don't know what time it is for the few days after St Stephen's Day.
"I love the rest; I love that ritual of not having any ritual, of not having any routine, of staying in your pyjamas all day long if you wish!"
While for John Murray, whose A Murray Christmas Album is currently on sale, Christmas is all about the children: "Christmas is all about a child being born and in our case, it's about two children being born, our son and daughter, Stephen and Catherine.
"Stephen was born on Christmas Day 23 years ago and our daughter Catherine was born on December 29 and she will be 21 this December."
For Radio One's Cathal Murray, the focus is on a more practical matter: "My abiding memory of Christmas is an absence of batteries. You waited all year for that toy you wanted but you'd no way to power it up on Christmas morning.
"I grew up in Athlone in the 80's there was no such thing as shops being open [on Christmas Day]!"
