Doc McStuffins a hit for Brown Bag

The new animation series from Brown Bag Films, Doc McStuffins, has gained huge ratings in the UK according to figures released by Disney UK.

IFTN reports that the series for preschoolers was watched by 3.5 million people in just eight weeks on Disney Junior making it the channel's number one series with a second season already green-lit for the Irish based studio.

The series had already enjoyed a very strong launch in the US with the product range associated with the programme enjoying similar success.

The show tells the story of a little African-American girl name Doc who can talk to the toy world.

Vice President and General Manager, Disney Channels and Disney Online, UK & Ireland Boel Ferguson said: "The success of 'Doc McStuffins' both here and the U.S., is testament to the fantastic storytelling and sensitive approach taken to highlighting what can be a daunting experience for our younger viewers when they visit the doctor. We hope that as parents and their children watch the show together, it opens up family dialogue about the importance of good health and compassion."
