Piper denies Doctor Who return reports

Billie Piper has denied rumours that she is set for a shock return to sci-fi TV show Doctor Who.

The 30-year-old singer-turned-actress played the part of the Time Lord's sidekick Rose Tyler for two years until 2006, and later reprised her role in 2008 and 2010.

However, The Secret Diary of a Call Girl star has blamed an off-the-cuff remark by Doctor Who actor Matt Smith for creating rumours about her return to the popular show.

Speaking on The Graham Norton show, Piper said: "No. I've not been asked. I think Matt Smith said something in passing or in jest like, 'That would be nice,' and it became something, but no."
