It has been announced that the BBC drama, Ripper Street, which was filmed in Dublin, has been renewed for a second season. Broadcast reports that the period crime drama will run for a second season of eight episodes next year.
The show stars Matthew Macfadyen and Jerome Flynn as policemen investing some brutal murders in London six months after the Jack the Rippers killings. The show which airs on Sunday nights on BBC One at 9pm has attracted some complaints over some violent scenes.
BBC's controller of drama commissioning said "Quality and ambition run through Ripper Street, from Richard Warlow's original scripts, the incredible cast and the captivating direction." He added "All combine to create a period series with a modern and gripping edge that will return for a second series in 2014."
