It would appear that judges Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh have not been impressed with groups that have to audition for this year's X Factor.
So much so, that show bosses have had to organise a extra days of auditions and had to plead with unknown bands to come and perform for the judges.
The groups have once again shown themselves to be the weakest of the categories – despite heavy use of scouts and YouTube auditions in the early stages.
In previous years the judges have been forced to put groups together themselves at the judges houses' stages – as they did with One Direction and Little Mix.
The lack of groups is being put through to the next stage is apparently down to returning judge Sharon and head Gary's strict standards — after they vowed to make the 10th anniversary show the best so far.
An X Factor source told The Sun: "The judges are being tougher than ever.
"Sharon and Gary are teaming up against lacklustre talent — and without the arena audience being there to persuade them as in previous years, not many acts are making it through.
"Nicole and Louis are more open to the idea of developing the acts.
"But Sharon and Gary are insisting that they only want the best. It's causing a bit of a split between the panel. Ideally, they want to get groups that have been together a while and have got chemistry, rather than having to make their own.
"They know the talent is out there, they just have to find it."
This year, there will be no live audience in the first round instead the judges will watch singers in hotel conference rooms with no backing track or audience.
The next stage is a performance in front of a live audience in an arena.
