It looks like it might be getting too hot in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen for Irish international track and field athlete David Gillick on Sunday night's show.
The 30-year-old sportsman is tasked with making a "show stopper" meal consisting of a scallop salad with pancetta and mint butter, asparagus, peas, tomatoes and parmesan. However, David falls at the final hurdle when he manages to burn his scallops.
David is not best pleased following the cremation, remarking politely: "**** it – that pan is crap! I couldn't believe I'd burned the scallops. I didn't put enough oil in the pan."
"At one stage, I had loads of time. Like yeah I have everything ready and then suddenly just the wheels fell off. I put on another batch. I wasn't going to settle for second best and send out burnt scallops."
When it comes to presenting his dish to Nick and Dylan, Gillick explains that he's disappointed with how everything turned out, stating: [I feel] a bit down. I'm just not proud of that dish."
Has David cooked his last dish in the MasterChef kitchen?
Tune in and find out on Sunday night on RTÉ One at 9:30pm.
