Pictures have surfaced of Shane MacGowan on the set of Coronation Street's Rover's Return sparking speculation that he is to appear in an episode this Christmas.
The singer's partner Victoria Mary Clarke posted pictures of the Pogues frontman enjoying a drink with actor Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow on her Facebook page last night.
The Rovers is clearly decked out with Christmas decorations and it was thought that the 55-year-old musician, who was born on Christmas Day, was set to star in episode this festive season, perhaps singing seasonal classic Fairytale of New York.
However, a spokesperson for Coronation Street has told RTÉ Ten that "he was here doing some filming but for a little surprise VT that is not part of the main show".
The Pogues are set to release a nine-disc greatest hits collection, 30 Years, on December 2nd.
