Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has said that he pretended to be a lightsaber and left messages on director JJ Abrams phone to get a role in Star Wars: Episode 7!
The Metro reports that Cumberbatch was recently interviewed by American talk show host Conan O'Brien and he said: "I heard that you very much would like to be in Star Wars and you're lobbying JJ. Is that true?'
He replied: "Yeah, it started with me with sort of…I just sort of would leave casual messages on his phone as a lightsaber.
"I thought he thought he was getting bad cell reception or something."
He added: "Then, I even went on a chat show [Graham Norton] and auditioned for Chewbacca. I sat next to Harrison Ford and did my audition!"
He claimed Ford, who starred as Han Solo in the original Star Wars films and is expected to return in the new Star Wars film, looked traumatised by his efforts!
Cumberbatch also spoke about being reunited with his Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
"The characters had an interaction which was very different from the dynamic of Sherlock," he told Digital Spy.
"It was a shame not to have [Martin's] presence, we love sparring off one another, but it would have been a very odd dynamic to practice."
