Russell Crowe has thanked Dublin for "the welcome, the turn out, the smiles and the Guinness" after his whistlestop visit to town for the Noah premiere.
Making his first visit to Ireland since 2006, Crowe attended a screening of his $94m Biblical epic in Dublin's Savoy cinema and snuck in a pint of the black stuff in Kehoe's pub while he was in town.
Before his arrival as part of the promotional blitz for the controversial movie, the 49-year-old Australian actor tweeted: "Dublin, Edinburgh, Cardiff, red carpets and all. Will have a Guinness in Dublin, a single malt in Edinburgh."
Crowe, who is of Irish, Scottish and Welsh heritage, couldn't decide which city he most wanted the movie to premiere in, so he opted to visit all three in one day.
Crowe features in the lead role in Noah which also co-stars Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins, Noah is due for general release next Friday.
However, some groups have criticised the movie as a disrespectful portrayal of events in the Bible.
"We have endured 12 to 14 months of irrational criticism and now people are starting to see it and to realise how respectful it is," Crowe said in response.
"And how true to the source material it is and how intense an experience it is in the movie theatre, you know, so that's cool."
