Agnes Brown has been crowned the new queen of the Irish box office with Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie raking in a record-breaking €1.02m at the Irish box office after only three days on release.
The opening weekend tally is the best ever opening for an Irish film, putting Mrs Brown ahead of opening weekends for Michael Collins, In Bruges, The Guard and The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
Irish film site Scannain reports that the opening weekend for D'Movie breaks down as €768,380 from the Republic and just over €250.000 from Northern Ireland.
The big-screen outing for Brendan O'Carroll's matriarch of mirth has also dominated the UK market and is the Number One film in the UK and Ireland, taking an overall £4.27 million in its opening weekend.
