Golden Globes: Who deserves to win?

Hollywood is gearing up for The Golden Globes tonight with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler presenting for the third time. The show airs on RTÉ2 tomorrow night (January 12). In the meantime, take a look at the long list of nominations..

The film nominees

The Best Actor - Drama nominees are: Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), David Oyelowo (Selma) and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything).

The Best Actress - Drama nominees are: Jennifer Aniston (Cake), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Reese Witherspoon (Wild).

The Best Supporting Actress nominees are: Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Jessica Chastain (A Most Violent Year), Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game), Emma Stone (Birdman) and Meryl Streep (Into the Woods).

The Best Supporting Actor nominees are: Robert Duvall (The Judge), Ethan Hawke (Boyhood), Edward Norton (Birdman), Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher) and JK Simmons (Whiplash) are nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Best director nominees are: Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Ava DuVernay (Selma), David Fincher (Gone Girl), Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman) and Richard Linklater (Boyhood) are the nominees for Best Director.

Best film nominees are: Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Selma and The Theory of Everything are nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama.

Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Into the Woods, Pride and St Vincent are nominated for Best Comedy or Musical.

The nominees for Best Actor - Comedy or Musical are: Ralph Fiennes (Grand Budapest Hotel), Michael Keaton (Birdman), Bill Murray (St Vincent), Joaquin Phoenix (Inherent Vice) and Christoph Waltz (Big Eyes).

Amy Adams (Big Eyes), Emily Blunt (Into the Woods), Helen Mirren (The Hundred Foot Journey), Julianne Moore (Maps to the Stars) and Quvenzhané Wallis (Annie) are nominated for Best Actress - Comedy or Musical.

The nominees for Best Animated Motion Picture are: Big Hero 6,
The Book of Life, The Boxtrolls, The Lego Movie and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

The Best Original Song - Motion Picture nominees are: Big Eyes - Big Eyes (Lana Del Ray), Glory - Selma (John Legend, Common), Mercy Is - Noah (Patty Smith, Lenny Kaye), Opportunity - Annie, Yellow Flicker Beat - The Hunger Games, Mockingjay - Pt 1 (Lorde).

The Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy nominees are Girls, Orange is the New Black, Transparent, Silicon Valley and Jane the Virgin.

The Best Actor – TV Comedy contenders are Don Cheadle (House of Lies), Ricky Gervais (Derek), Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent), Louis C.K. (Louie) and William H. Macy (Shameless).

Lena Dunham (Girls), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) and Julia Louis Dreyfuss (Veep) will battle it out for the Best Actress - TV Comedy or Musical gong.

The Normal Heart (HBO), True Detective (HBO), Olive Kitteridge (HBO), Fargo (FX) and The Missing (Starz) will compete for Best TV Movie or Mini-series award.

The Best Actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for television nominees are: Martin Freeman (Fargo), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Matthew McConaughey (True Detective), Mark Ruffalo (The Normal Heart) and Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo).
