Julia Roberts will help adapt the documentary Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World for the big screen.
The feature film will tell the story of Miles Scott, a five-year-old leukaemia sufferer who made headlines across the world in 2013 when he was given the chance to become 'Batkid' by the Make-A-Wish foundation.
The documentary based on his story is set to premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival on January 24.
Documentary director Dana Nachman said of Robert's involvement in the upcoming project: "It's thrilling to me that Ms. Roberts and her team watched our film and were so moved by it that they want to dedicate their time and creative capital to make sure the widest audience possible will know and love Miles' story and the spirit of this intimate special event that went global, as much as we do."
The August: Osage County star will also appear in the film in an unknown role.
On November 15, 2013, Scott was granted his wish to become 'Batkid' by the Make-A-Wish foundation, and with the help of 25,000 supporters San Francisco was transformed into Gotham City for a day where he took part in a series of staged missions.
