'Wilde' marriage proposal couple for Today show

Friday's edition of Today on RTÉ One will set the tone for St Valentine's Day with a couple who became engaged in a very 'Wilde' and romantic way.

And that unique proposal also won the couple a €3,000 engagement ring that was first prize in a Today show competition to find Ireland's most romantic proposal.

Derek and Sarah are the couple, and they join Dáithí and Maura to tell their tale, which involved Oscar Wilde memorabilia – Sarah's a big fan of the literary legend – and The Dublin Writers' Museum.

Sarah had a condition known as HELLP syndrome, which almost caused her to die during the birth of the couple's son, Oscar. At the time, Derek thought he would lose her, and decided to propose to "the love of my life".
