The 2009 winner of The X Factor, Joe McElderry, has said he would "definitely consider" a role in soaps Coronation Street or Emmerdale.
The 23-year-old The Climb singer told Digital Spy: "I'd love to do a soap – I think that would be fun. But I would always do it alongside singing because I think I'd miss the singing too much."
"But I'd definitely consider it; I'd love to do a little role in something," he continued.
"I do enjoy acting. I suppose I act a little bit through performing songs, and I think as you're doing the pantos and stuff and learning how to ad-lib on the spot – that's been a great lesson in terms of drama."
When asked which soaps he would like to appear on, McElderry replied: "I think I could do Emmerdale or Coronation Street. Somehow I don't think I've got the accent for EastEnders, so I'll leave that to the southerners!"
