Writer Garvan Grant and cartoonist Gerard Crowley have described their new book The True(ish) History of Ireland as "an (almost) factual look at the... nearly mature nation".
Among its satirical highlights are the accidental invention of poitín by St Patrick and the conquest of the country by "some evil, yet rather posh English people".
Author Grant is also an editor and historian. He worked for The Sunday Business Post from 1999 to 2013 and is now working as a freelance editor.
Crowley is one of Ireland's best-loved cartoonists. His comic strip, The Last Resort, has been appearing in The Sunday Business Post for the past 20 years. The 244-page book is published by Mercier Press.
