The actor joked that his life wouldn't be worth living if he revealed whether or not his character will survive to see series 5 of the popular RTÉ drama.

He also spoke to RTÉ Radio One about Nidge's ever-changing character: "One of the joys of playing the part is he's a different man in all four series'.

He continued: "People are drawn to him because of his humour, the moments he has with his children and the moments he has with his own conscious.

"He's been centre stage; he's achieved what he thought he wanted to achieve and now he's wondering if it's what he's always wanted."

Vaughan-Lawlor also addressed the seriousness of the subject-matter in Love/Hate saying: "Stuart [Carolan, Love/Hate creator] is very serious about showing the repercussions of the killings and drug culture.

"Stuart doesn't set up a scene or a storyline without showing the effects it has on the community. He never creates scenes for just the shock factor."

The 28-year-old singer wants to model herself more on Joni Mitchell and having a more mature sound going into her 30s.

Perry told Billboard: "I'll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell as I inch towards my 30s.

"I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar album. That's where I started when I was first discovered by (songwriter/producer) Glen Ballard and got my first record deal.

"We'll see - I can't get ahead of myself. I'm still doing the work: I'm a good balance of left and right brain, and to be an artist with a long career, you've got to have both... I've got a few records under my belt, and I still feel like a brand-new artist. People still want that truth to cut through."

Whedon likes Avengers' imperfections

Director Joss Whedon has spoken about how The Avengers next film will be better than the first.

Whedon told Total Film, "When I think of a great film, I think of something that's either structured so perfectly like The Matrix or made so lovingly like The Godfather Part II. There was haphardness in the way it [The Avengers] comes together – not just the people, but the scenes.

"I don't think you'd look at it and go, 'This is a model of a perfect structure.' You'd go, 'This is working.' I like it. I'm proud of it and I like its imperfections. The thing I cared most about – making a summer movie like the ones from my childhood – is the thing that I pulled off."

Next time round however Whedon plans to do things a little differently, "I want to be clearer about how I engage the audience and where I take them. I want more control visually, more time to prep it.

"Not that I didn't dictate every shot – I did – but there's only so much you can do when you're making a summer film when the ball is already rolling as fast as it was when I got in."

He added, "Why do it again if you can't do it better?"

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for a May 2015 release.

Wheedon's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D starts on RTÉ Two this Sunday night at 8pm.

First Okapis arrive at Dublin Zoo

Dublin Zoo has announced that the first okapis in Ireland have become its newest residents.

Males Kamba, aged 14, and Kitabu, aged six, arrived from Rotterdam Zoo this month.

Dublin Zoo said: "The okapi is originally found in the Ituri Rainforest, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in central Africa."

Dublin Zoo continued: "It is one of the last species of mammals to be described by western science and even today the okapi largely remains a mystery to the outside world.

"For most people living in Ireland this will be their first opportunity to see these extraordinary animals."

Dublin Zoo added: "Okapis are the only living relative of the giraffe. The okapi has a dark red-brown-coloured coat with horizontal, white-striped markings on their hind quarters and at the tops of their legs. Its long, black tongue is prehensile, meaning that it is able to strip leaves from the branches above.

"Unfortunately, due to deforestation and hunting, their numbers are declining rapidly."

Director of Dublin Zoo Leo Oosterweghel said: "It is a privilege to see such a rare and beautiful animal. They are a shy and sensitive animal and are still settling in so may not be visible every day."

The UK businessman claims she deliberately lied about her job at his company being a "sham" in a bid to ruin his reputation. He wants the five-figure compensation to cover his legal costs and damages.

English, who won season six of BBC show The Apprentice in 2010, told a tribunal in April that she was forced out of the firm and shunned by colleagues - but her allegations were unanimously dismissed.

Sugar's lawyer Seamus Sweeney subsequently told Stratford Employment Tribunal that he believes English knew the claims were untrue but went ahead with her case to remain in the public eye.

"We recognise it is not normal to bring costs claims at a tribunal but we maintain that the proceedings brought were completely unreasonable," he said.

"The claimant knew her allegations that the job was a sham were untrue because when questioned by me at tribunal she accepted it was untrue. It was a real job, with real money and real duties.

"To put out to the world at large that the job was a sham had the effect of bringing the respondent company, Lord Sugar and broadcaster the BBC into disrepute. That was the effect.

"There is very little glamour sitting behind a desk in an office working in an IT company, compared with the glamour of being on a popular television [show]. It may have been boring."

Sweeney went on to allege that English "went missing" from her role and subsequently hired legendary PR guru Max Clifford to sell her story.

"There was a sense by her employers that the glamour had gone out of it for her," he said. "She went and got a PR guru and the inference of this, we submit, was to keep the claimant in the public eye. Otherwise why would she go to the press and bring these claims?"

Dermot Whelan says Storehouse gig 'a no-brainer'

Republic of Telly host Dermot Whelan delves a little into the unknown with tonight's From the Storehouse with Dermot Whelan on RTÉ Two at 9.55pm.

On the eve of Arthur's Day, Whelan hosts a show that mixes chat and tunes and which could prove to be a calling-card for the TV presenter if he fancies going down the chat show host route.

"I've never really seen myself as a chat show host, I have to admit," he says, before offering a very solid reason why. "I don't tend to find celebrities that interesting! And how Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late segues beautifully between child pageant stars, a tragic life story and music from a Chinese choir, I will never know."

But Whelan is excited about tonight's show, as the heavyweight line-up features actor Chris O'Dowd, chef Dylan McGrath and Donegal GAA's Jim McGuinness as well as music from The Script, Kodaline and Bobby Womack.

"This show from the Storehouse caught my interest because I've great admiration for the guests on it," says Whelan. "They're all from very different walks of life but are all successful people with a story to tell."

And Whelan has a story of his own to tell. "Chris [O'Dowd] is the only guest I've met before," he recalls.

"We went to a stag together a few years back, which ended with the two of us making up songs about wasps at 4am on a boat.

"I really believe the Arthur Guinness Projects are a great initiative and I'm a firm supporter of anything that supports the arts in general.

"Plus, I'm a huge Irish music fan and it doesn't get much better than The Script and Kodaline at the moment.

"Throw in a legend like Bobby Womack and it has to be a cracking night. In fairness, great guests, world class bands and it all takes place in a brewery? A bit of a no-brainer really..."

From the Storehouse with Dermot Whelan is on tonight (Wednesday Sept 25) on RTÉ Two at 9.55pm.

You can also watch From the Storehouse with Dermot Whelan live worldwide on the RTÉ Player, with an exclusive Script performance after the live show.

Robin Thicke has hinted that there could be a follow-up to Blurred Lines.

The 36-year-old singer revealed that he is planning to team up with producer Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I for a follow-up to the popular song.

Judi Dench "felt cool" after Bond movies

Judi Dench admits starring opposite Daniel Craig in the recent James Bond movies, such as Skyfall, has made her feel a ''bit cool."

The 78-year-old played the part of M in seven films in the spy series from 1995 to 2012 and said that she is thrilled that it has introduced her to a younger audience.

Contact Music quote the star as saying: ''I have a lot of young chaps that ask me for autographs that think I'm a bit cool and that can't be bad.

''Maybe they'll come for the theatre. All I ever feel is that my job is baiting people to come to the theatre. But it's lovely to have a young audience. Before, they used to say, 'Could I have your autograph - it's for my granny'. It's now, 'Could I have your autograph - it's for my 11-year-old son.' And you think, 'Oh, it's very good.' ''

Dench, who has stepped down from playing the popular character, has said that she will miss starring in the 007 franchise, saying: ''When they come to do the new film, you bet I'll miss him.''

Jessie J has spoken about Miley comparisons

Jessie J has spoken about the similarities being made between her and Miley Cyrus.

There have been a lot of similarities made between the It's My Party singer and Cyrus lately but Jessie J told Digital Spy, "You know what? I have to see it as naive and lazy comparisons.

"My face has been the same since I was born, but as soon as I had a bob, my music sounded like Katy Perry's. Now I've got short blonde hair, my music all of a sudden sounds like Miley's and Pink's. It's young people a lot of the time, because they're very obsessed with one person.

"It used to bother me, but it doesn't anymore. I know what makes me different. The lyrics of mine and Miley's are similar, but the songs are completely different. You'd never seen me kissing a doll in a swimming pool!"

She added, "She [Cyrus] pulls it off, but I couldn't."

Jessie J's new album Alive will be released on Monday, September 23rd.

Nolan pitched Batman Begins in just 15 minutes

Warner Bros revealed it only took Christopher Nolan 15 minutes to pitch Batman Begins.

Greg Silverman, president of production at Warner Bros said in a special feature segment of the Dark Knight trilogy box-set, "The pitch that Chris had was so... it was quick. It was ten or fifteen minutes. But it was so holistic, and it really was Batman Begins."

Former president at Warner Bros, Jeff Robinov said, " "Chris came in and said, 'Look, this is what I want to do in the movie. This is what I want to do with it visually. This is where I think the character needs to go. I think it's going to be different than any superhero movie anybody's seen before. And what I really want to do is take that genre and embrace it as a real film genre'."

Nolan himself added, "When I went in and talked to them about it, it was very open. Now, that's a great opportunity, particularly for a writer/director."

James McAvoy confused by some roles

Trance actor James McAvoy admitted that he sometimes finds himself cast in roles where he ''doesn't know what'' he's going to do after reading the script.

The 34-year-old actor explained that he can't always envision a part just by reading the script, but he gets a great feeling when one immediately leaps out at him, such as his current film, Filth.

ContactMusic quote the star as saying: ''Sometimes when you read a script you don't start getting ideas and that can be slightly worrying. I have done jobs where I think, 'I don't know what the **** I'm going to do,' and you just get there on the day and make it work. But with Filth every single scene just presented so many ideas and I was inspired immediately.''

James further explained that he knows his name can help films gain backing, but he trusted Filth director Jon S. Baird as soon as he met him, saying:  ''Sometimes filmmakers want you just because they think you can help get things financed. [But] sometimes you just get a feeling and I trusted Jon. He is very strong, very bold and very direct, *******t is not part of his makeup. So I thought, 'He's definitely the guy to direct this because you need someone brave and bold.''

Delevingne told W magazine, "I was just on holiday for three days in Greece with my sister, and I thought that would make me happy and relaxed. But when I stop everything, it's really bad. I go crazy. In Greece, it was a lot of couples, and I felt alone, which made me sad."

"I called Rihanna, she said, 'It's easy to drown yourself in work. That's a form of escapism. So, if you're alone and you want to cry, cry.' And I did. But by then it was time to leave and get back to my life."

EastEnders stars film funeral scenes

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 18 September 2013 | 04.02

The stars of EastEnders have filmed the funeral of a character who will die in the soap later this year.

Warning: spoiler alert!

The Daily Star reports that Jessie Wallace (Kat), Shane Richie (Alfie) and Charlie Brooks (Janine) filmed the funeral of troubled character Michael (Steve John Shepherd) on Monday.

The paper says he will be killed off in the coming months, "after viewers see a completely different side to meek and mild Alice Branning (Jasmyn Banks)".

A source told the paper: "This autumn is going to be huge in Albert Square.

"Viewers have already seen what Michael is capable of but he's only going to get worse."

The source continued: "Alice has been in love with him for months and he's going to use her again to get what he wants - his daughter Scarlett.

"There will be lots of twists and turns along the way before he dies. The exact details of his death are being kept secret.

"All the cast and crew have been sworn to secrecy but it will be must see viewing for the fans."

The source added: "And there will be a lot of shocks and gasps when it all plays out on screen. Michael has been such a dark character and his exit is very fitting."

The funeral scenes will air in November.

RTÉ TEN's TV picks for today

The highly-acclaimed Mad Men returns for a sixth run while the first season of Suits comes to an end on RTÉ Two. Meanwhile, Eric McCormack continues to entertain in Perception, the US procedural on satellite channel Watch.

Mad Men, RTÉ One, 11.00pm

The greatest TV show that no one watches is back as John Hamm and co return for the latest (well, late 1967) developments at Sterling Cooper Draper Price (SCDP). In the season opener, Roger Sterling gets bad news, while Peggy becomes increasingly dictatorial. Ken Cosgrove becomes suspicious of the intentions of a mysterious brown-nosing junior accounts man and, while Betty takes in a house guest for Yuletide, Don spends Christmas in Hawaii with Megan.

Suits, RTÉ Two, 9.00pm

All good things must come to an end, and so Suits - a perfect fit for fun, summer viewing - closes its first season. Harvey, played by the gleaming Gabriel Macht, tries to correct a past mistake by freeing an innocent man. However, the new district attorney seems more focused on preserving the system than seeking justice. Elsewhere, Trevor returns and seeks help from Mike, but finds out about his relationship with Jenny and decides to tell Jessica the truth about Mike.

Perception, Watch, 10.00pm

Season two of this hugely enjoyable US procedural continues. Led by former Will & Grace star Eric McCormack as Dr Daniel Pierce, a schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist who assists the FBI on some of their most complex cases, Perception has lost its initial annoying ticks to become a solid hour of silly-but-fun crime-solving. This week, Pierce is on the case when a cunning killer commits a series of bizarre public murders, seemingly to send a message about inattentional blindness.
