Following the release of One Direction's This Is Us, Louis Tomlinson's grandad booked out two entire cinema screens for his family and friends.

Tomlinson's granddad attended the screening in the cinema where Louis used to work and he pre-booked two of the venue's screens to accomodate his group.

The manager at the cinema, Vue Doncaster, said: "Louis's granddad was clearly very proud of Louis's achievements and was extremely keen to watch the film amongst friends and family...

"He didn't want Louis to know that he was planning this visit as he knew his grandson would have wanted to pay for the tickets.

"He was even so kind as to buy the cinema staff 'thank you' chocolates for placing the booking and helping to make the night such an enjoyable experience."

Tomlinson attended the film's world premiere in London on Tuesday along with his bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and our own Niall Horan.

Fatboy Slim can't believe DJ success

Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, who headlined Electic Picnic last night, told 2fm's Dan Hegarty that he thought his career was coming to an end in the late '90's.

Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, who headlined Electic Picnic last night, told 2fm's Dan Hegarty that he thought his career was coming to an end in the late '90's.

The internationally renowned DJ said that he thought his career was in its "twilight" stage before he released his acclaimed 1998 album You've Come Along Way, Baby.

Speaking to The Alternative 2fm presenter at Electric Picnic, Cook said: "Personally I thought I was at the twilight of my career because I'd already had quite a healthy career before that so that was kinda exciting.

"What I really didn't understand was where DJ culture could go and dance music. At that point we were just getting on to main stages or having a mega dance tent.

"If you see what's been going on the last three years it's kind of echoing that, its like another quantum leap in where the DJ can go."

"In those days it was unconceivable [sic] that we'd be where we are today."

O'Callaghan struggles with work/life balance

Miriam O'Callaghan says that she struggles to keep a balance between her work and home life.

Miriam O'Callaghan says that she struggles to keep a balance between her work life and her personal life.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN at the launch of RTÉ Radio 1's new season, she said: "I fail [to get the balance right] every day of my life but the thing is, I don't worry about it. Life is about doing the best you can but like most other people I struggle."

The 53-year-old's schedule remains busy in the new season as she continues to stand in on the John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio 1.

"I'm fortunate enough to be standing in for John in the Autumn. It's a brilliant team and I've loved doing it." she said.

Having forged a successful career in both television and radio, O'Callaghan openly admits that TV was her first love but that radio also holds a special place in her heart.

"If you're a female presenter all anyone does in the first few minutes, evidence shows, is look at you, what you are wearing, what your hair is like, and it distracts from what I do best which is interview people.

"On radio that's all I do. I can be in my nightie - I'm not - but I can just sit there and just focus on talking to the person and be interested in their story."

Despite enjoying letting her image take a back seat on radio, the mother of eight is still well known for her style. When asked what the secret behind her glamorous appearance is she said: "I just try and be happy in life."

She added: "I want to live everyday 24/7 to the best of my abilities and that's what I say to my children too."

Wasikowska was cast to play the role in May but Mara has since replaced her in the role.

Luther movie prequel plans confirmed

There's a movie version of Luther on the way following the success of the show's third season which recently aried on BBC

There's a movie version of Luther on the way following the success of the show's third season which recently aried on BBC.

Neil Cross, creator of the crime series starring Idris Elba as the mean and moody detective, said at this week's Edinburgh TV Festival: "I've written the script and we hope to get the film made next year."

"Idris is a brilliant leading man and we've hoped to turn Luther into a movie for a long time. It will follow his career in the earlier days, when he is still married to Zoe, and the final scene in the film is the first of the initial TV series."

Cross explained that the reason he chose to develop a prequel was to bring back popular supporting characters like Zoe (Indira Varma). Justin Ripley (Warren Brown) and DCI Ian Reed (Steve Mackintosh) are also expected to feature in the movie,

Ruth Wilson's Alice Morgan will not appear in the movie but the BBC is believed to have expressed interest in a spin-off series for her character.

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz has announced that he is hoping to make a feature film based on the show "as soon as possible".

Unlike the recent Netflix only fourth season revival of the cult US comedy, which focused on an individual character in each episode, the movie will reunite the entire Bluth ensemble on screen.

"A TV season is a six-month commitment," Hurwitz told Rolling Stone. "But I think it would be very doable to get them together for four or five weeks to make a movie."

Hurwitz added: "I'm working on the movie right now. I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off.

"I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright - it's a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."

X-Files 3 movie to have post-colonisation story

Chris Carter has been talking about the storyline for his planned third X-Files movie.

The writer-director who created the cult sci-fi series suggested that after 2008's relatively small-scale X-Files: I Want to Believe, any follow-up would be broader in scope and would also tackle the December 22, 2012 colonisation date mentioned in the TV series.

"It's really up to 20th Century Fox, whether they have the will to do it," Carter told movie magazine Empire. "I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together.

"I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonisation date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore.

"For the second movie, we only had the budget for a stand-alone story, but we want to go back to the mythology."

Carter also revealed that British actor Simon Pegg - who starred with X File star Gillian Anderson in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People and is a noted fan of the show - almost appeared in I Want to Believe.

"We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him," said Carter. "I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."

Madonna has topped Forbes magazine's rich list after raking in cash from touring, her clothing and fragrance line and investments.

The once and forever Material Girl took an estimated $125m (€93m) in the past year. The 55-year-old made most of her moolah from her $305m-grossing MDNA tour which visited Dublin last summer.

Steven Spielberg came in second on the list with earnings of $100m in the year ended June 2013.

Madonna-a-like Lady Gaga made No 10 on the countdown with earnings of $80m mostly from her Born This Way Ball world tour.
Expensive handbag collector Oprah Winfrey took in $165m last year but this year she fell to No 13 on the list with earnings of $77m.

At number three, with earnings of $95m in the past year, there was a three-way tie between 50 Shades of Grey author EL James, radio shock jock Howard Stern and music and television producer Simon Cowell.

Others in the top 10 earners include TV host Glenn Beck, director Michael Bay of the Transformers franchise and thriller novelist James Patterson, who Forbes said was now the best-selling author of all time.

Ben Affleck confirmed to play Batman

Written By Unknown on Jumat, 23 Agustus 2013 | 23.37

It has been announced that Ben Affleck is set to join the Man of Steel sequel as Batman alongside Henry Cavill as Superman.

The Warner Bros project was confirmed at Comic-Con earlier this year with Zack Snyder taking the helm.

The film will see Batman and Superman on the big screen together for the first time, says The Hollywood Reporter. The film is due to open worldwide in July, 2015.

Warner Bros' Greg Silverman said of the casting "We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular superheroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some.

"His outstanding career is a testament to his talent, and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character."

Synder said "Ben provides an interesting counterbalance to Henry's Superman.

"He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him."

Review: We're The Millers

This screwball romp has a healthy share of belly-laughs and even some "aw shucks" moments says Paddy Kehoe but he draws the line at the "offensive" scenes. Read his review here

This screwball romp has a healthy share of belly-laughs and even some "aw shucks" sentimental moments. But with less of the offensive, frankly jarring scenes, they could have made a movie reasonably reliable for family viewing. Sadly, at times We're The Millers teeters uneasily into territory that should really be out of bounds.

One of the scenes in question occurs quite early on and involves a seedy cop who is looking for a bribe, or otherwise a sexual service involving an 18-year old boy. It's not funny, but the scene ends with a deft avoidance of the actual service. The audience only begins to breathe again after this squirming encounter ends.

And the testicle bitten by the tarantula isn't funny either. This scene cynically buys into the YouTube humiliation fad - that context has already been established - and, of course, the testicle clip goes viral. One immediately docks two stars for such a cheap shot at knowing, streetwise comedy. Just because it's faddish doesn't make viral humiliation valid for entertainment, simple as.

But aside from that, We're The Millers is laugh-out-loud brilliance, smarter and sassier than films it might vaguely remind you of, like Meet The Parents or Meet the Fockers. In a film which is obsessed with sex, one of the funniest scenes takes place in a tent and involves high jinks amongst four adults, two of whom may not be as consenting as they appear.

As the story begins, likable David Clark is a small-time pedlar of soft drugs in Denver, Colorado. After a street fracas, he is robbed of 20 thousand dollars profit he was about to deliver to his sleazy drugs boss, Brad (Ed Helms).

Brad duly forces David to take a trip to Mexico to smuggle drugs he has no alternative but to agree, as he owes his boss 20 grand. Plus he stands to receive a handsome pay-out himself. Brad assures him that he has but to collect a small amount of marijuana in Mexico. But, hey, that's a lie.

It dawns on David that he must assemble a neat all-American family – The Millers - as the perfect cover. Rose (Jennifer Aniston) lives in the same apartment block and works as a stripper. When she finds herself out of a job, she reluctantly agrees to join David on the trip, pretending to be mom Miller.

The couple are joined by a teenage runaway, Casey (Emma Roberts), who for a fee, will play the daughter. Completing the brood is the goofy, lovable Millers' son, Kenny (Will Poulter). The ready-assembled family pile into an RV, which David acquires for the trip.

Much of the humour derives from the fact that the Millers fail to function as a normal family when that is clearly what is expected of them, when they interact with other folks.

On the other hand, when the Millers begin, despite themselves, to resemble a real family after time spent cooped up in the RV, their clumsy affection for - and loyalty to - each other tugs at your heartstrings. Which is really quite clever, as it ends up being a feel-good movie as well as a comedy, and both Aniston and Sudeikis are on top form.

Go see, but be prepared for occasional gross interludes which the film could have well done without.

Paddy Kehoe

David Gillick wins Celebrity MasterChef Ireland

David Gillick has been crowned the champion of the first Celebrity MasterChef Ireland.

The athlete came on tops over fellow finalists, RTÉ newscaster Aengus Mac Grianna and broadcaster Maia Dunphy, to take home the coveted title.

Gillick told TEN of his win: "It's great that I don't have to lie to anyone anymore, I've been lying to everyone for the past few months so it's great to have it out in the open now!

"To be honest I was really surprised. When they actually said that I won it I was completely gobsmacked, I was lost for words, I didn't know what to say or what to do, I was completely overwhelmed."

The competition heated up for the final episode, as the contestants flew to Dubai to impress judges Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath with their own three-course dinner menu.

Gillick impressed the judges with his Quinoa crumbed lamb cutlets, Halibut fillet with an avocado, apple and celeriac remoulade with lemon vinaigrette and Summer meringue torte.

McGrath said: "I love the quinoa, I like that it's you. I can see why you made those choices. The protein, quinoa, keeping it healthy. Staying relevant to you."

Gillick said of his menu choice: "Particularly in the final I just wanted to not keep things simple, but to keep things simple to me, use foods that I would normally eat. That's what people can relate to, it's nothing over-the-top of fancy, anyone could make this food if you throw yourself into it. That's what I wanted to do throughout it, I'm an athlete and that's my background and it's what I know."

The athlete also opened up about his experience appearing on the show, saying: "I got a lot of self-fulfilment and a lot of confidence from the whole experience and that makes you look forward to cooking and trust yourself a bit more with regards what you're cooking. If I was to throw a dinner party now I'd have full confidence in myself that I would pull it off whereas before I would have been like 'No way, they're all going to hate this'.

"And also from a personal perspective, and not being able to race over the last while due to injury, you begin to feel a little bit down about yourself. Going through this whole process really gave me a lot of self-fulfilment, I really enjoyed it."

Gillick is open to possibly branching out into a cooking career, explaining to TEN: "I've always been interested in healthy living and healthy food and it's part of what I do in my career. If opportunities were to arise due to this I'd take a run at it."

The judges were let down by Mac Grianna's lamb shanks main course, with McGrath commenting: "You've cooked some beautiful food all the way through the competition, and today you've cooked a big bulky dish."

Dunphy became visibly upset and shed a few tears after Nick and Dylan's comments about her performance in the final MasterChef challenge, saying: "I'm just really disappointed".

When announcing that Gillick had won the competition, Dylan complimented the athlete, who became known for his healthy approach to cooking, saying: "For the past six weeks we have been impressed by your innovation and your flavour."

Former Versace model James Marsden has admitted that he does not feel like he's a sex symbol.

Currently starring in Lee Daniels' The Butler, the singer and actor told Out magazine that his good looks do not correspond to his personality in the way that people might assume.

"I'm actually less comfortable being the smouldering hot guy," he admitted. "I know I have a face like a model, but I'm actually just a goofy drama nerd underneath."

Marsden also noted that his instincts about the commercial prospects or artistic quality of a movie he's in cannot always be relied upon.

"I never set out to make a bad movie," he said. "Some movies just turn out bad, and I want to scream, 'Why did you pick that take?' Then there are some movies that I've been in that I was sure people would laugh at, that have become huge.

Recalling one particular hit he said: "I thought The Notebook was going to be a schmaltzy Movie of the Week-type thing, and here we are!"

Match of the Day

Gary Lineker introduces highlights of seven matches on the opening day of the 2013/14 Premier League season. New Manchester United manager David Moyes takes the champions to Swansea as they kick off their bid to defend the league title. The Scot can expect to be under the fierce glare of the spotlight as he takes charge of the club's first league match without Sir Alex Ferguson since 1986. Elsewhere, newly promoted Cardiff take on West Ham in east London while Arsene Wenger – now the longest-serving manager in the Premier League – welcomes Aston Villa to the Emirates Stadium to take on his Arsenal team. In other matches, Liverpool host Stoke at Anfield, Norwich welcome Everton to Carrow Road, Sunderland and Fulham meet at the Stadium of Light, and Southampton take on West Brom at The Hawthorns. Repeated on Sunday, from 7.40am to 9.00am. Alternatively, you can watch the whole business on Sky Sports 1 at 5.00pm. Top of The Lake
9.10pm BBC Two

In the final episode of what has been a thrilling America/New Zealand co-production, Robin is summoned to Matt Mitcham's to secure his confession. What she hears leaves her emotionally exhausted. Near despair, she summons all she has left to get to Tui before Matt. Nothing though can prepare her for where she will have to go, or what she will have to see. Acting on instinct, she heads off to confront the dark creator alone where the investigation reaches its shocking conclusion. Top of the Lake is directed by the celebrated New Zealand film-maker Jane Campion (An Angel At My Table).

Thatcher: The Downing Street Years
8.10pm BBC Two

If you're not Thatchered out, of course - however, now that she is gone, the woman almost fascinates us more, as she settles into the verdicts of history. This four-part 1993 series looks at the eleven years which Thatcher spent as British Prime Minister. Using interviews with former Cabinet Ministers and Thatcher herself, the series covers important events in her premiership, from 1979 to 1990: her economic policy, the Falklands War, the Westland affair in 1986, her diplomatic relationships with then-President of the US Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, her election victories of 1983 and 1987, Poll Tax Riots, and her resignation. She is pictured below with one-time Taoiseach, the late Charles Haughey.
