Ryan Dolan causes a stir in Russia!

Irish Eurovision hopeful Ryan Dolan was on the promotional trail in Russia last weekend where he caused so much hysteria while out shopping that he had to have a bodyguard protect him.

27-year-old Ryan Dolan kicked off a mini-tour of Moscow in Russia on Saturday at the city's biggest gay club where he performed this year's Irish Eurovision entry, Only Love Survives, with his dancers, Colm Farrell and Alan McGrath, in front of over 2000 people.

Ryan was in Russia in a bid win over the Eurovision voting public, hoping they will give him the coveted 12 points if he makes it through to final on May 18 in Malmo, Sweden.

He continued the promotional blaze with an appearance on MTV Russia, who took him shopping and interviewed him as he browsed the local stores. Ryan apparently caused such a stir at the shopping centre that he was assigned a bodyguard to ensure his safety.

Ryan then took to the stage at the Kapitolly Mall and performed Only Love Survives before the Russian entry Dina Garipova sang her song What If.

Afterwards Dina and Ryan had dinner together and they then headed over to a pre-Eurovision party where they both performed once again.

On Monday morning, just before their whistle-stop tour came to an end, Ryan met with the Irish Ambassador Philip McDonagh for breakfast and a bit of a sing song!

Ryan with Irish Ambassador Philip McDonagh

Ambassador McDonagh said: "As a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest and of Ryan Dolan's, I was delighted to meet the Irish Eurovision team in Moscow. Their performances here strengthened Ireland's profile in the Russian Federation.

"Ryan and his colleagues have created much good will and added to the many links between our two countries in the sphere of music, dance, and song. I wish them every success at Malmo in May."

And there's no rest for Ryan between now and the Eurovision as he arrived in RTÉ this morning for rehearsals ahead of Malmo and his Late Late Show performance on Friday. The delegation flies to Sweden on Monday May 6 and he is due to perform in the first semi-final on Tuesday May 14. Go Ryan!

Michael York battling rare disease

Veteran British actor Michael York has announced that he's battling a rare blood disease.

The 71-year-old Austin Powers actor concerned fans in January, after appearing with a swollen-looking face at a Cabaret reunion with Liza Minnelli in New York.

York explained that he was originally diagnosed with bone cancer, before they discovered he actually had amyloidosis, a blood disease that breaks down tissues, leaving swollen growths and legions on the body.

He told The Lady magazine: "It all began two years ago, when I was doing a miniseries with Tom Conti. I noticed I was getting dark circles under my eyes.

"At first, I was able to cover them up with make-up, but it got worse and was really becoming evident, so I had to wear dark glasses."

The British actor has undergone a stem-cell transplant at a Mayo Clinic in the US to fight the disease.

He said: "I lost my voice, completely, which, for an actor, is a bit alarming. Now, it's sort of back. During [chemotherapy], sadly, all my hair disappeared.

"My face is a little swollen. That's probably from the meds, but also from the illness itself. There are deposits all over."

York added that he was positive about fighting back from his health issues, saying: "I know this can be deadly, but I never gave up. I am thrilled at this reprieve and want to do as much as I can to make it better."

The renowned actor played Basil Exposition in the Austin Powers movies, as well as starring parts in Logan's Run, The Three Musketeers, Cabaret and Romeo and Juliet.

More recently, he has had roles in several TV shows including How I Met Your Mother, Gilmore Girls and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

TG4 cycling documentary wins on the double

Written By Unknown on Sabtu, 27 April 2013 | 23.37

TG4 has taken the main award at the Celtic Media Festival 2013 in Swansea. Rás Tailteann - Rotha an tSaoil took the Spirit of the Festival prze, announced at the closing awards ceremony.

The series had earlier also won the Sports category.

The double-winning documentary tells the story behind one of Ireland's greatest sporting institutions, the Rás Tailteann cycling race.

Rás Tailteann - Rotha an tSaoil took two awards at the Celtic Media Festival

Established in 1953, its aim was to symbolise the nationalist aspirations of its organisers and promote Irish culture at a time of fierce political and sporting division. The programme tells the tumultuous history of the Rás and also offers a look at the cultural and political development of late 20th century Ireland - from the 1950s to the modern day.

Produced By Dot Television and Sónta, the production received funding from TG4 and from the Broadcast Authority of Ireland. Producer David Burke and director Seán Ó Cualáin were in Swansea to receive their two Torc awards.

The Celtic Media Festival is one of the most prestigious and long established festivals in these islands and is held each year. It presents awards in a range of programme categories. The double win for the Rás programme brought the TG4 tally of Torcs at the 2013 Festival to five.

Two and a Half Men renewed without Jones

Two and a Half Men has been renewed for another season, with Kutcher and Cryer returning, but Angus T. Jones will not participate in the next season.

The 19-year-old star of the show came into controversy late last year when he went online to condemn the troubled show. Jones was believed to have affiliated with a church and wanted to leave the hit comedy series, calling himself "a paid hypocrite" as his role conflicted with his beliefs.

Jon Cryer now remains the sole original lead character on the series, after Ashton Kutcher replaced lead actor Charlie Sheen in May 2011.

The upcoming next season will be the shows 11th run and is expected to be broadcast in America between late 2013 and early 2014.

Bridget Jones 3? You'll be waiting a long time

Colin Firth has said "there may be a long wait" for a new Bridget Jones movie but don't fret, the third book is on the way.

The new installment of the Bridget Jones saga is currently being written by Helen Fielding and is expected to be published later this year. Production company Working Title Films said in December that it is unclear if another film will be made.

However, speaking to The Chicago Sun Times, Firth - who plays dashing Mark Darcy in the films - was a bit more positive about a new Bridget movie.

But he admitted it will likely take some time before there is any movement on the project.

"Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait," the Oscar winner said. "I wouldn't say that it's completely dead in the water, but the way it's going you might be seeing Bridget Jones's granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there."

He added: "There is a joy of doing those movies that keeps hope alive. And the story is going in an interesting direction. I just wouldn't say that the movie is imminent."

Windsor asked back to EastEnders

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 25 April 2013 | 23.37

Actress Barbara Windsor has said she has been asked "a couple of times" to reprise her role as Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders and is "tempted" but "not quite ready".

In an interview on ITV's This Morning, Windsor said: "I miss EastEnders - I absolutely do, I loved it.

"But I was exhausted when I left, absolutely exhausted.

"They asked me to go back recently... they've asked me a couple of times, but I think about it and I don't sleep.

"I am tempted, that's the point.

"But Scott [Mitchell, husband] says you have to really think about it because towards the end I was so exhausted and not sleeping at night and waking up looking at the script - it became too much part of my life.

"If you're like me, I take every single job like it's my last time... which it might be!

"And if I'm called in at six-thirty, I'm in at six... it's my own fault. When they asked me to go back I got all very excited - but I'm not quite ready for it."

It plays a hugely important role in providing outstanding music, sport, entertainment, news and information to its legion of listeners.

"There are big commercial challenges ahead for the station, but 2fm has the listenership base, the talent and the energy to turn around. My goal is to make 2fm the most-listened-to music and entertainment station in Ireland."

Clare Duignan, Managing Director, RTÉ Radio said: "I'm delighted today to announce Dan Healy as the new Head of RTÉ 2fm. Dan's track record in the industry is unparalleled.

"2fm is a core priority for RTÉ - it's vital that RTÉ, as the public service broadcaster, meet the needs of younger listeners and this appointment is a significant statement of confidence in the future of 2fm."

The news has followed the latest JNLR listenership figures, which reveal that 2fm is stable at 23% weekly reach with 817,000 listeners.

RTÉ 2fm's peak-time share is steady at 7.2%.

Hector Keeps Her Lit Again is up 4000 to 128,000 listeners book-on-book and up 6000 year-one-year.

The Colm Hayes Show has gained 5000 to 136,000 book-on-book.

Tubridy has stabilised with a marginal loss of 1000 to 159,000 book-on-book.

There are big gains for Weekenders with Paddy and Ruth, which is up 10,000 book-on-book.

Commenting on today's figures, Ms Duignan said: "Last year we had a run of four really encouraging books for 2fm, and these figures are a continuation of that success.

"Hector has gained, Colm has gained, Larry has gained ... Ryan Tubridy has had a marginal drop to 159,000, down 1000, and this is a conclusive indication that his listenership is stable and loyal, and there to be grown."

The book-on-book gains, almost across the full day, indicate firmly that Radio 1 is Ireland's favourite radio station for news and current affairs, general interest, sport, and music programming. ( 'Book' is JNLR parlance for quarterly results.)

"Over on lyric, stability at 3% weekday reach is very encouraging. Marty continues to build listeners at breakfast, while the drivetime slot on lyric has seen a gain in this book." JLS announce shock split

The chart-topping boyband, JLS, have announced they will go their seperate ways later this year after they release their greatest hits album and complete their farewell tour.

Aston Merrygold, 25, Marvin Humes, 28, Jonathan "JB" Gill and Oritsé Williams, both 26, who make up the four-piece, have revealed they've spent the last number of months agonising over the future of JLS.

They eventually decided that the time was right for them to end their time together as a band, but not before they release a greatest hits album and go on a farewell arena tour.

Aston told The Sun: "It's just that time. We are still best of friends and always will be - but this is the end."

Marvin added: "We wanted to finish on a high. We're finishing with an arena tour - our third arena tour - and that is a massive achievement.

"The last five or so years have been nothing short of incredible. It has been an incredible journey."

JLS found fame on The X Factor, coming second to Alexandra Burke, in 2008. However Simon Cowell missed the boat with the hitmakers when he failed to sign them to his SYCO label.

The Epic record label soon snapped them up and JLS went on to become one of the most successful acts to have ever comepted on The X Factor. In the past five years the foursome notched up numerous top ten hits including five number one singles.

Marvin said: "We are the first X Factor act to finish a five-year recording contract. If we wanted to carry on and sign to another label, it was going to be another three, four or five albums. So we all thought about it for a few months and it sort of made sense to say we were moving on with our lives."

Aston added: "We haven't fallen out. We leave with some amazing successes under our belt and we can say goodbye in style."

The boys have already got plans in place for when their last day as JLS arrives.

Marvin is set to become a father for the first time with wife, Saturdays singer, Rochelle Humes, and he also recently became a radio presenter, while Aston joined the judging panel of Sky 1 dancing competition Got to Dance earlier this year.

Oritse has formed his own music management company and JB has recently purchased a deer farm in Scotland.

She previously stated otherwise - but Shonda Rhimes has admitted that Grey's Anatomy is in for spectacular season nine finale. Warning: Spoiler Alert!

The storm will achieve its full force by the season finale, which is aptly titled Perfect Storm and the medics will go into crisis mode as the hospital is ravaged.

Rhimes has said the Grey's writing staff made some "very bold [and] shocking decisions" with the finale following "very intense discussions."

"I warned you about the GA finale so you could brace yourself," Rhimes tweeted. "Hug a friend."

So batten down the hatches, Grey's Anatomy fans. Looks like we're in for yet another bumpy finale on your favourite TV show.

Jane Levy

You have to say she scrubs up well after a hard night's filming!

The Suburgatory star said of the experience: "By the end I was so tired... I remember during the scene in the shed when the machetes are going through, I was so out of it that at one point there was a take where the machete went right across my face and there was no reaction from me!

"I didn't even see it! I don't even know where my brain was at that point! They [the crew] were like, 'Jane? A machete almost hit you in the face and you didn't even react!'"

Jonas Brothers open up on reunion

The Jonas Brothers - siblings Nick, Joe and Kevin - have opened up about their reunion, insisting that their comeback was a "collective decision".

The band, who took a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, explained that it's like they never left the music industry.

Speaking to MTV, Joe Jonas said: "It feels really nice. It's kind of like we never left. We spend a lot of time together, even when we're not doing music, but finally making music together is great and we are very happy that people are actually showing up to concerts and listening to the music yet again."

Meanwhile, Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the band, revealed that the trio made a mutual decision to get back together: "I think it was a collective decision. We came to a place where we had sort of done our individual projects, and it felt like we were in a place where we were ready to create again and come back with some different inspirations.

"And we knew it was important to make this different from our previous releases and step outside of our comfort zone and really make this our best record yet. We worked hard and we took our time with it too. And we're very proud of the result and excited for fans to hear the rest of the record besides [single] Pom Poms."
